David Weatherston netted a hat-trick as Queen of the South sailed to a comfortable 4-0 victory over mid-table opponents Morton.

William McLaren opened the scoring from the penalty spot after just two minutes following Morton midfielder Kevin McKinlay's foul on Derek Holmes.

Weatherston doubled his side's advantage in the 32nd minute with a good finish from Allan Johnston's neat pass, and then netted his second of the afternoon in the 64th minute.

Rocco Quinn played the ball through and Weatherston calmly slid the ball into the bottom left corner from 12-yards.

Weatherston completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute with a fine strike from the edge of the 18-yard box.
