This was a typical end-of-season affair with little to excite either sets of supporters for most of the match.

But Morton can go into the play-offs in fine heart on the back of this comfortable victory over the lowly Loons.

The first-half was particularly poor, and it took a double strike in the space of five minutes in the second half for the match to come to life.

Morton's Michael Fulton sent in a fine cross from the right and Derek Lilley rose well to get his head to the ball and nod home.

He made it 2-0 in the 59th minute after Morton took advantage of a lapse in concentration from Forfar with a quick free-kick. Craig Black sent over a perfect cross for Lilley and he volleyed the ball home from 12 yards.

Forfar's only decent shot throughout the 90 minutes came in the dying seconds when Darren Gribben thumped in a volley from the edge of the box and Stefan Gonet had to dive full-length to turn it round the post.
