McManus breaks duck in Alloa win

Declan McManus scored his first senior goal as Alloa claimed a comfortable 2-0 win over Morton at The Recreation Park.

Aberdeen loanee McManus was a substitute for the other goalscorer Andrew Kirk and scored almost immediately five minutes from time, converting an Edward Fearns cross.

A late first-half goal from Andrew Kirk put the home side in front, highlighting the scale of the job ahead for new Morton manager Kenny Shiels, who takes over next week.

Bottom-of-the-table Morton had briefly looked lively, before a long-range Kevin Cawley shot was spilled by Nicolas Caraux and followed up by Kirk from close range.

The result moves Alloa up to fourth in the league, after Falkirk had their game abandoned due to bad weather.
