Then, Greacen endured a similar leg injury, also against non-league opposition, also in the Cup. The team then was Vale of Leithen, and Morton's 4-0 victory was perhaps their last good performance of the season, as a Greacenless Morton slid slowly but surely down the table. Even his return couldn't stop the rot - as we well remember, a 4th place finish ended a season that once held such promise in unfathomably ignominious fashion. If harsh festive weather continues, Morton may be fortunate enough not to have to play a league game without the instrumental defender, and with that avoid the collapse of last season.
