Morton V Airdrie Utd at Cappielow Park - Match Preview

Cappielow without Weatherson

Promotion seeking Morton will be without striker Peter Weatherson when they host bottom side Airdrie after he broke a bone in a hand in last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Raith Rovers.

The Greenock side will also be missing Kevin Rutkiewicz, who has a calf injury, and Martin Hardie who is banned while youngster Thomas O'Ware is a doubt due to a hamstring strain.

Cappielow manager Allan Moore said: "It is disappointing to be without Peter as he gives us a different option up front. We have Partick Thistle to play on Tuesday night and we want to be heading into that one having picked up three points in this game.

"It was disappointing to lose at Raith but we will look to get back into things positively against Airdrie although they will make things very difficult for us."

Airdrie, who have won only once in their last 20 games, make the trip without David Lilley who is suspended.

Also missing for the Diamonds is top goalscorer John Boyle, who was stretchered off against Falkirk last Saturday, with a knee injury and Jordan Kirkpatrick who also has a knee complaint.

Manager Jimmy Boyle said: "The two sides need to win this match however there is probably more pressure on Morton as they are expected to win it. We will go there and battle to take what we can.

"The league table does not make for good viewing but we need to go out and try and secure a win. The game against Falkirk was the first we had not created any chances in and I want us to pose a threat to Morton."
