Morton Drawn Against Livingston In Scottish Cup

A Second Division team getting drawn away to an SPL outfit tends to evoke romantic images of buck-toothed banjo players making their tractor-propelled way to the big city; lower-league players savouring a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play in front of tens of thousands of partisan supporters; or perhaps a one-club pro netting a wonder goal to set up an improbable home replay; maybe even a classic victory for the underdogs.

Sadly, few such possibilities seem likely to be realised as Morton travel to Almondvale to face Livingston.

The SPL side, who recently emerged from financial ruin in strange and worrying circumstances, welcome to West Lothian a Morton side who last year also faced lower-half SPL opposition in the cup, when they faced Partick Thistle at home. Last year resulted in a 3-0 win for the Jags; it seems that Morton would do well to keep the score down against a Livi team that contains plenty of foreign imports and even a young Scot or two.
