Morton chairman DDF Rae just announced the following on the MortonUnofficial message board:

"We are delighted to report that late today we signed Brechin hitman Chris Templeman on a three and a half year contract.

Unfortunately Chris is Cup Tied for Saturday and will make his debut against Forfar on 18th December.

Chris is extremely excited to be joining Greenock Morton and we are all looking forward to seeing the big man in action.
"

The gargantuan attacker has been a target for Morton before, allegedly refusing a deal last summer after much media exposure (much of it brought on by Morton) about his impending arrival at Cappielow. This time, however, Morton have got their man, albeit for an undisclosed fee. One source indicates that the amount paid was £100,000; this seems terrifically high, even for a player as good at this level as Chris. The truth is probably somewhere below that figure.

Whatever the amount is, Templeman's track record in the Second Division is undeniably good: 16 goals in all competitions so far this season, along with 24 two seasons ago as Brechin gained promotion to Division 1, mark the hitman out as a great threat to any defence. However, in the First Division, things were not quite so rosy: inconsistency and a decent Brechin squad so the big man relegated to the bench for some matches, and managing to score only seven goals all season, two of these in the challenge cup.

However, Chris will be eager to impress the Cappielow faithful, starting with December the 18th's game against Forfar Athletic.
